Roseanne Barr is making some bold statements about the upcoming
Roseanne revival.

ABC Entertainment President Channing Dungey told the Banff World Media Festival “I don’t know whether Roseanne will speak about Trump by name. But she’s going to speak very honestly.”

She went on to talk about how the show, which centered around a working class family in Illinois from 1988 to 1997, will have changed.

“Now we will have three generations — Roseanne, her kids and her kids have kids who are teenagers,” Dungey added. “So we’ll bring back a point of view that has really been missing on the air.”

It seems she also compared Roseanne‘s voice to that of an underserved population of America.

“What the election revealed was that there’s parts of our country that didn’t feel heard, that they didn’t have a voice,” Dungey said. “When you look at how the polling data went in the run-up to the election, it was kind of a big surprise to many people that the election turned out as it did.”

And now the comedian and creator of Roseanne is addressing the topic, posting on Twitter: “MY NEW SHOW IS NOT ABOUT TRUMP! IT’S ABOUT A MIDWESTERN FAMILY.”

The Roseanne revival is expected to air in Spring 2018.
