For a couple of years in the mid-90s, Ryan Gosling was your normal, everyday teen singing cover songs and wearing outfits that have hopefully been burned.

Fortunately for the world, there is footage of Gosling singing, while wearing a potato sack, available to the masses because he was one of many stars on the Disney Channel’s reboot of the “Mickey Mouse Club.”

The show was made up of comedy sketches and musical numbers. The sketches lacked comedy, but the musical performances were a real sight to be behold, even– still are a sight to behold.

During one such performance, Gosling, with the help of future legendary boy band members Justin Timberlake and JC Chasez, and Dale Godboldo, really put on a show while performing Jodeci’s “Cry For You.”

If you think the subject matter is a little too sensual or mature for Gosling and company, think again.

The choreography and potato nullify any of the words actually being sung.

Gosling’s brief solo at the 1:40 mark is “La La Land” worthy.
