Y’all, Netflix is taking over the media world. They have signed movie deals with just about all of the biggest names in Hollywood, have won a slew of EMMYs, and more people are moving to watch network shows on Netflix than on the networks. Over the weekend, Netflix continued their conquest by signing Shonda Rhimes, the woman behind “Grey’s Anatomy” and “Scandal” to an exclusive deal.

Over the last decade, Rhimes has pulled in over $2 billion in revenue for ABC. Netflix looks to capitalize on her storytelling as her ABC series grow more stagnant.

“Shonda Rhimes is one of the greatest storytellers in the history of television,” Ted Sarandos, Netflix’s chief content officer, said in a statement. “Her work is gripping, inventive, pulse-pounding, heart-stopping, taboo-breaking television at its best … We’re so excited to welcome her to Netflix.”

In a statement, Rhimes said that she looks forward to creating a new “storytelling home for writers with the unique creative freedom and instantaneous global reach.”

“The future of Shondaland at Netflix has limitless possibilities,” she concluded.

It is estimated that her deal with Netflix will net her $10 million annually.
