Andrea Swift made an emotional appearance during her daughter Taylor Swift’s sexual assault trial in Denver. The singer’s mother took the stand to testify on Taylor’s behalf and shared what she saw happen the night in question with DJ David Mueller.

Though Andrea wasn’t present for the actual photo, Andrea saw Taylor immediately afterwards and knew something was off, “I went into the dressing room and I saw her face. I could see that there was something horribly wrong. She said, ‘Mom, a guy just grabbed my ass. I wanted to vomit and cry at the same time.”

Andrea went on to say that Taylor told her she thanked Mueller for coming and that she was upset about it, “It was just destroying her that she said that. As a parent it made me question why I taught her to be so polite. She was really shaken. She was humiliated.”

When asked why Andrea and the rest of Taylor’s management team didn’t go to police, Andrea answered as a mother and not as one of Taylor’s team members, “I did not want this event to define her life. I did not want her to have to life through the endless memes and gifs that tabloid media and internet trolls decided to come up with – doctoring the pictures… and making her relive this awful moment over and over again.”

Mueller lost his $150,000-a-year job and is seeking $3 million in damages. Taylor’s counter suit is for $1.
