Thomas Rhett has another number one hit, and so does his dad.
“Get Me Some Of That” is the second single off of his debut album It Goes Like This to grab the No. 1 spot. It is also the second time he has hit the top of the charts with a song written by his dad, Rhett Akins. (The first being “It Goes Like This.”)
Thomas told us both of those songs almost didn’t make the album because he cut them after he thought the album was finished.
And this is where it gets really fun: Luke Bryan was also on hand to cheer for his buddies. One of the writers, Michael Carter, is Luke’s lead guitarist. CMA New Artist of the year nominee and co-writer Cole Swindell used to sell merch at Luke’s shows. Luke used to watch Rhett Akins in concert when he was in college, where he met Michael Carter. It has now all come full circle for this big, happy, hit-country-song-writing family.
