Tim Tebow visited Jimmy Fallon on “The Tonight Show” to promote his recent book “Shaken.” In typical Tebow fashion, the interview brought tears and inspiration to many who didn’t know they needed it. He has been the center of scrutiny for many sports enthusiasts, myself included, who question his ability to succeed in MLB baseball. The problem with our criticism is that Tebow doesn’t keep score the way the rest of us do.

Where many of us see anything less than ultimate success as failure, Tebow just wants to have fun and pursue his dreams. He joked about his meager salary as a minor league baseball player and told stories about sleeping on the floor during a twelve-hour bus ride. His sports lifestyle is not glamorous, but he loves it.

Tebow also addressed the danger of living by what other people define as success. You can’t please everyone in the comment section. You can’t trust the comment section either. Tebow lives according to the advice and encouragement of the people who he knows and loves and encouraged Fallon’s audience to do the same.

The interview ended with an impromptu prom dance. Tebow, apparently, never went to prom. He was always too busy with sports. So, Tebow created Night to Shine, a worldwide prom for people with special needs. One attendee invited Tim to be her prom date. He couldn’t make the event, so he invited her to The Tonight Show, bought her a corsage, and asked her for a dance.

How can you not root for this guy?
