The 90th Annual Academy Awards featured some solid lines from host Jimmy Kimmel and a few other folks, but it was recently revealed that Lonely Island (Andy Samberg, Jorma Taccone and Akiva Schaffer) were asked to ” write a song for this year’s Academy Awards,” the Lonely Island write in the song’s goofy video mock-up. “Unfortunately, it wasn’t chosen because it was ‘financially and logistically impossible,’ so for fun we thought we’d share the rough storyboards of what would have been a fully shot, star-studded music video of exorbitant cost. All vocals and visuals are temp, so please use your imagination and enjoy!”

The song has the Lonely Island guys portraying characters from blockbuster films asking the question, “Why Not Me?”

All of the Hollywood men named ChrisPratt, Hemsworth and Evans were featured as well as Tiffany Haddish and the clown from “It.”

Basically, the song asks– why don’t big-budget ever got nominated? And that’s not a terrible question.
