The Barefoot Contessa, Ina Garten, has made some incredible dishes over the years, but according to her, this brownie recipe is her most popular one yet. In fact, she claims they sell 1,000 every week. That’s a lot of brownies.

Ina Garten’s Outrageous Brownie Recipe:

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb. butter, unsalted
  • 1 lb. + 12 oz. semisweet chocolate chips
  • 6 oz. unsweetened chocolate
  • 6 large eggs
  • 3 tbsp. instant coffee granules
  • 2 tbsp. vanilla extract
  • 2 1/4 cups sugar
  • 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 3 cups walnuts, chopped
Directions:
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees. In a medium-sized bowl, melt the butter, 1 pound of chocolate chips, and the unsweetened chocolate over simmering water. Allow the mixture to cool while (in another bowl) you stir eggs, coffee, vanilla and sugar. Once it’s mixed, stir in the chocolate mixture and allow it to cool.
In a medium bowl, sift a cup of flour, the baking soda and the salt and add it to the cooled chocolate mixture. Mix the walnuts, 12 oz. of chocolate chips and 1/4 cup of flour in a bowl, then add the mixture to the chocolate batter. Pour the entire mixture into a greased baking sheet and bake for 20 minutes. Open the oven and rap the baking sheet against the oven shelf (as Ina demonstrates) to make air escape from between the dough and the pan. Bake for another 15 minutes and allow them to cool before refrigerating and serving!
