This is thrilling, even if you don’t realize it yet. The world of grilled cheese is laid out before you like a grand buffet just waiting to be tried. It’s time to leave the american singles in your childhood and explore the wide land before you. These five tips will help you get started.


5 Next-Level Tips for Better Grilled Cheese Sandwiches:

1. Better Bread: Switch out the bagged white bread for a sourdough or rye. They toast, taste, and hold together better than white bread. I guarantee they will turn your good grilled cheese into a great one.

2. Warm and Crispy: Getting a good crunch without burning your bread is essential to a good grilled cheese. Instead of throwing your bread in the toaster, try toasting the bread in a skillet with mayo. Yes, you read that right. Spread a layer of mayo on both sides of your bread and toast in in a skillet over lowish heat. Mayo keeps the bread from burning while toasting both sides of the bread will warm the inside and outside of the sandwich. Warm insides= gooey cheese.

3. Get Cheesy: American cheese was practically invented for grilled cheese, but there is a bigger cheese world out there waiting to be found. Blending or switching up your cheese will shift your sandwich into high-gear. Havarti, Muenster, and provolone are mild, melt well, and are super stretchy. Veggies: Lettuce, roasted peppers, pickles, mushrooms, jalepeños, onions, avocado

5. Super Spreads: The spread or sauce is the final touch to an amazing grilled cheese that can bring all the ingredients together. BBQ sauce can unite havarti, jalepeño, and pulled pork. Fig jam with brie, apples and chicken is unbelievable. Siracha hot sauce will kick up your bacon, smoked gouda, mushroom and egg breakfast sandwich. You options are only limited by your imagination.
