Usually by January, I’m really done with alcohol. With all the holiday parties happening, and with New Year’s Eve most likely being a huge disappointment, I’m ready to get back in the gym and only eat salads.

But sometimes when I get home from work I really want to relax with a hand mixed cocktail – without all those added calories and alcoholic content. Usually, I try to take the month of January off from drinking so much and it helps to have these mocktails in my back pocket.

5 Mocktail Recipes to Detox After the Holidays:

1. Cucumber + Ginger Water

Ingredients:

1/2 of a cucumber, sliced

2 ginger tea bags

dash of lemon juice

Directions:

Brew the ginger tea like you normally would. This is going to create a “concentrate” for you to add your water to. Once your tea is brewed, add to a large pitcher, your sliced cucumbers. Add the tea concentrate and your water into the pitcher, along with some lemon juice. Chill, and serve with a sprig of mint as well.

2. Rosemary Lemonade

Ingredients:

1 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice

2 tbsp Rosemary simple syrup (reduce 1 cup sugar, 1 cup water and a handful of rosemary sprigs over the stove until boiling, then simmer for 30 mins to 1 hour)

1 cup water

Directions:

Mix until desired taste is achieved, then chill. Can also serve with a sprig of lavender.

3. Lime Tonic

Ingredients:

1 bottle diet tonic water

2 tbsp fresh-squeezed lime juice

dash of bitters

Directions:

Pour all ingredients over ice, and mix. Can garnish with a lime.

4. Kick of Turmeric

Ingredients:

¼ cup fresh squeezed lemon juice

1 tsp turmeric

1 tsp cayenne (you can also add a dash of tobacco if you like it really spicy)

handful of ice

1 cup water

dash of salt

Directions:

This one is a little different as you drink it quickly. Add all ingredients to a shaker, and shake until completely chilled. Pour into a shot glass and drink quickly. It’ll give you an awesome boost of energy and heat (kind of like taking a real shot!)

5. Ginger Ale Mimosa

Ingredients:

½ cup orange juice

½ cup ginger ale

Directions:

My mom used to always make this for me when I was sick, and I still drink it now for comfort. Pour your chilled OJ in a glass, and top with ginger ale. This is also AWESOME with fresh grapefruit juice (I like the Simply Grapfruit brand)

So there you have it! If you’re wanting to detox a little from the holidays, this is a great way to enjoy a special drink without finishing the bottle of wine. If you try any of these out, comment below!
