A hot toddy is probably the best thing to drink on a chilly fall night. There are a ton of awesome warm cocktail recipes out there, so make sure to bring a batch to your next Thanksgiving or fall gathering – or just make one at home on a Saturday night like I do. Some of these cocktails are quick and some of them take a bit more simmering time, so there’s a variety of everything.

5 Warm Cocktails for Chilly Fall Nights:

1. Ginger Hot Toddy

Ingredients:

  • ginger herbal tea, steeped (6 oz cup)
  • splash of honey
  • 2 oz whiskey
  • squeeze of lemon

Directions: Brew your tea to your desired strength. In a mug, pour your whiskey and honey and stir well with a fork. Pour in your hot tea, and then finish with a squeeze of lemon.

2. Spiced Cider

Ingredients:

  • warm apple cider
  • spiced rum

Directions: This is a great drink in bulk or even just for two. In a crockpot or on the stove (depending how much you want to make) warm up some apple cider. Then, mix in your spiced rum and top with whipped cream.

3. Irish Coffee

Ingredients:

  • 6 oz brewed coffee
  • 2 oz whiskey
  • 1 oz baileys

Directions: Brew yourself a pot of coffee. In a mug, mix your baileys and whiskey together, and add your coffee, adding splash of half and half if you desire.

4. Mulled Wine

Ingredients:

  • 1 bottle dry red wine
  • 3 peels from oranges
  • 1 peel from a lemon
  • 5 black peppercorns
  • 3 cloves
  • 1/3 cup hone

Directions: in a large stovetop sauce pan, heat all ingredients for about an hour, making sure to let them simmer. Strain your mixture through fine mesh when you are finished, and make sure to garnish with an orange.

5. Peppermint Patty

Ingredients:

  • 4 oz hot chocolate
  • 2 oz peppermint schnapps
  • 1 oz Godiva chocolate liquor

Directions: Combine all ingredients in a mug and serve warm. Marshmallows ARE required.
