I don’t know about you but the second the temperature changes, my skin doesn’t know what to do with itself. Throughout winter, my skin feels like it goes through all stages possible, from dry to itchy to red to dull.

Over the years, I’ve found a few tried-and-true tricks for keeping my skin healthy and glowing year-round that won’t require you to spend $100 or require you to do any weird DIY remedies with 50 steps.

7 Realistic Tips for Curing Dry Winter Skin ASAP:

1. Watch What You Eat

Avoid foods that are high in fat and sugar and instead eat foods that will boost your complexion, like avocados, sweet potatoes, and pomegranates. Wake up little earlier in the morning to make yourself a smoothie that you can take with you to work or to run errands in this cute BPA-free travel cup!

2. Exfoliate

When your skin is super dry, it might feel like exfoliating will make your skin even drier– and it might if you do it too much. But exfoliating your skin a few times each week will rid your face of dead, flaky skin. Rather than buying a face wash with an exfoliant, I recommend using these cellulose face sponges with your regular face wash so you ensure your face won’t get irritated.

Be sure to moisturize immediately after!

3. Moisturize Your Eyes

As I’ve gotten older, I’ve learned that I can’t just use one lotion across my entire body. This Burt’s Bees sensitive eye cream goes under your eyes in the morning and evening to help keep the fragile skin around your eyes healthy and hydrated.

4. Get a Humidifier

Consider getting a small, easy-to-use humidifier to keep by your bed. This will help protect the top layer of your skin and encourage your body to retain moisture.

5. Drink Up

Avoiding alcohol (or at least cutting back) and drinking plenty of water is vital for keeping your skin hydrated. These CamelBak water bottles have a built-in straw, which for some reason helps me drink more water. I’m sure there’s some science behind that, but regardless– get a water bottle you can carry with you throughout the day.

6. Feed Your Face

This one is kind of a “no-duh,” but making sure your using a face moisturizer with effective ingredients will help keep your skin happy and healthy all winter long. This Neutrogena Water Gel is packed with hyaluronic acid to help your skin retain moisture– and it’s on sale right now on Amazon.

7. Wet Your Whistle

Is there anything worse than dry, cracked lips? I keep a mini tub of Vaseline Lip Therapy by my bed and apply it right before I go to sleep. I swear when I wake up in the morning, my lips are baby soft! A regular tub of Vaseline works just as well!
