I don’t know about you, but I have been vibing on the new Sarah Ross song “Calm Before the Storm.” Sarah Ross is a brand-new unique artist and one of only ones to blend rap and country music seamlessly. She first gained attention when she auditioned for “American Idol,” but was eliminated early on in he completion. She has an EP out now, and is gaining more and more momentum. Last month she released her video for “Calm Before The Storm,” which is fire.
So naturally I like to listen to a fusion of country and rap while I’m baking some amazing salted chocolate chip cookies. I recently received a KitchenAid mixer for a present and this was the first recipe I made in it. If you don’t have one and are an avid baker, I highly recommend it. I also endorse these cookies, and country artists who rap in their songs.
Best Salted Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipe:
- 1 stick butter, browned and cooled
- 1 stick butter, softened
- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking soda, rounded
- 1 1/4 cups packed brown sugar
- 1/3 cup granulated sugar
- sprinkle of salt (in the dough)
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 large eggs
- good semi-sweet baking chocolate, chopped into chunks
- corse sea salt, for topping
First of all you need to brown your butter. In a skillet, melt the butter until it turns a light golden brown. Pour into a glass bowl and set aside until its cooled completely. Don’t make the same mistakes I did. When the butter is ready, cream together your sugars and softened butter and then working in batches, pour in your browned butter slowly, followed by the vanilla and eggs. Sift together your flour, baking soda, and salt and also mix in in thirds. Last but not least, add in your chocolate chunks, mixing by hand. Scoop dough onto cookie sheets and chill for 20 minutes. Bake for 9 minutes at 350 degrees, and when the come out, sprinkle the sea salt on top of the cookies. Enjoy!
