One thing I hate about cleaning, besides all the cleaning, is that if you don’t do it the right way, you’re just gonna have to do it again. Like, if you don’t scrub a stubborn plate before putting it in the dishwasher– you’re going to have to do later. And so on and so forth.

5 Cleaning Mistakes You’re Probably Making Regularly:

1. Utensils in the Dishwasher

All of the forks can go one way, but if you put your spoons the same way, they’ll end up doing some spooning and not getting all that clean.

2. Cleaning Without Gloves

Even if you’re just doing a quick scrub of the sink you gotta wear protection. Our skin is so absorbent it soaks up almost any substance it touches. And that’s not good.

3. Forgetting to Wipe Handles and Knobs

Think about it– you just got the chicken from the fridge and then drained the kitchen and then you needed something from the cabinet and the fridge. But, did you ever go back and wipe down all of the places that raw chicken could’ve touched? Do it.

4. Spraying Cleaner Directly Onto a Surface

OMG. I know. I do it too. When we do this it leaves a residue behind– like drip marks on your backsplash. Spray it directly onto a microfiber cloth and then get to scrubbing. You’ll use less cleaner too.

5. Washing Windows on a Sunny Day

Because it’s easier to see marks, right? According to Real Simple, “Glass cleaner dries up much more quickly in direct sunlight, resulting in streaks on window panes. That’s why, in any season, the ideal time to clean windows is late afternoon or evening, or when the skies are overcast.”
