Dessert and a Movie: Christmas Desserts and Christmas Movies

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas, and that means it’s time for yummy treats and holiday movies, and if you’re going to make dessert, why not make a themed dessert to pair with your movie? Here are a few easy recipes that will go perfectly with a few of those classic holiday movies.

Grinch Fruit Kabobs and “How the Grinch Stole Christmas”

Ingredients:

Mini marshmallows

Strawberries

Bananas

Green grapes

Toothpicks

Directions:

Cut the tops off the strawberries. Peel and slice the banana.

Assemble your toothpick with one green grape, one banana slice, and one strawberry and top off with a mini marshmallow.

Melted Frosty the Snowman Cookies and “Frosty the Snowman”

Ingredients:

1-1/3 cups and 1Tbsp. all-purpose flour

½ tsp. baking soda

¼ tsp. baking powder

½ cup butter, softened

¾ cup white sugar

½ egg

½ tsp. vanilla extract

10 large marshmallows

Cookie icing and decorating tips (black, red, green, and blue)

White vanilla icing

Directions:

Preheat oven to 375 degrees.

Mix flour, baking soda and baking powder in a small bowl and set aside.

Mix butter and sugar in large bowl until creamy. Add in egg and vanilla and mix well. Gradually blend in the dry ingredients.

Make rounded teaspoon-size balls and place on an ungreased cookie sheet.

Bake for 8 to 10 in the oven, until golden brown. Let cookies cool before decorating.

Ice the cookies with the white icing.

Add a little bit of butter to a microwave safe plate and put a marshmallow on it. Cook for about 15 to 20 seconds in the microwave.

Place the melted marshmallow on top of the cookie and start decorating! Add arms, facial features, a scarf and buttons with the cookie icing.

Rudolph Cupcakes and “Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer”

Ingredients:

Cupcake Baking Mix

Chocolate frosting

Pretzels

Vanilla Wafers

Brown, Red, and White M&Ms

Directions:

Bake cupcakes according to the instructions on the package and let cool.

Frost cupcakes with chocolate frosting.

Place a Vanilla Wafer on the bottom edge of the cupcake and add 2 pretzels (as antlers) directly above the Vanilla Wafer.

Place a red (for Rudolph) or brown M&Ms as the noses for your reindeer in the middle of the Vanilla Wafer. (Use some of the chocolate frosting to stick the M&Ms to the wafer).

Add a little bit of chocolate to two white M&Ms (for the eyes) and stick them so they are overlapping the bottom of the pretzel (antlers) and the Vanilla Wafer.

Add two dots of chocolate frosting to the middle of the white M&Ms for the eyes.

Chocolate Candy Cane Pretzel Elf Hats and “Elf”

Ingredients:

Square Pretzels

Chocolate candy melts

Hershey’s Peppermint Candy Cane Kisses

Directions:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Place nonstick parchment paper on a baking sheet and arrange pretzels on the paper right next to each other. Place a chocolate candy melt on each pretzel.

Place the baking sheet in the oven for 2 minutes.

Remove pretzels from oven and set a Hershey’s Peppermint Candy Cane Kiss on each chocolate. Press in, so the chocolate melts into the pretzel.
