My books are some of my most prized possessions — I mean, I still have books from when I was in elementary school — so, when I see bent pages in books, it almost brings tears to my eyes.

Basically what I’m trying to say is — use bookmarks, people!

Heart-Shaped DIY Bookmark Directions:

1. For each bookmark, trace a large heart pattern (pattern below), onto scrapbook paper or cardstock. Trace one small contrasting heart, above (interior line). If desired, write a message in marker in center of small heart. Cut out hearts. Glue small heart to center of large heart.

2. Mark off a 1 1/2-in. square on a bottom corner of an envelope. Cut out square, forming a pocket that will slip over the corner of a book page.

3. Glue square pocket on the diagonal, cut edges down, to back of large heart. Let dry.
