How To Transform A Folding Table Into a Gorgeous Piece of Furniture

-

I think it’s safe to say that we all have one of those classic white folding tables sitting in our garage that we use once or twice a year. They really are super practical and perfect to have around just in case, but I also think we can all agree that they aren’t the most beautiful piece of furniture you’ve ever seen.

This hack will make your folding table look like it’s straight from Pottery Barn! It’ll still fold up and store like it’s supposed to, but it’ll look 100x better.

How To Transform Your Folding Table:

Supplies:

  • Folding table
  • Spray paint
  • 3 Pine Wood Planks – when the three planks are placed together there should be a 1-inch (2.54 cm) overhang on the tables length and 6-inch (15.24 cm) overhang on the width of the table
  • Side panels – 2 the width of the tables wooden top, and 2 the length of the table’s wooden top
  • Liquid nails
  • Sand paper
  • Stain
  • Brush
  • Cloth
Directions:
Unfold the table on a covered surface and spray paint the legs (I recommend a gold or bronze, but you could choose whatever color you’d like!). Allow the paint to dry and then flip the table upright. Apply a line of liquid nails across the table horizontally on the first third of it, then place a plank on top. Press down on the plank to ensure it’s secure, then repeat this process with the second third of the table, followed by the last third. Tape the planks and folding table together very rightly, and allow it to dry according to the instructions on the liquid nails.
Prep the side panels by drilling pilot holes along the plans, then once the top id dry, remove the tape and screw the side panels in to the underside of the planks. Use sandpaper to go over the wood until it’s completely smooth, then wipe it down to remove any excess dust. Use a paint brush to stain the wood, wiping off any excess as you go. Allow it to dry completely before use!
