We know Southern girls love a good braid, so we wanted to show off our favorites from Instagram that are both wearable and summer appropriate. Though some may seem intricate, don’t be intimidated! It’s important to remember, however, to take a particular style and make it your own. There’s no need to look like exactly like the ones featured here. Just feel out each braid and get creative with your own interpretation.

Now choose your favorite and start experimenting!

Classic French Braid. We love the way she took this braid around her head rather than straight back. Her creativity added interest and style that just won’t quit. What a stylish way to get your hair off your neck during the sultry summer months.

Updated French Braid. We chose this one because she let her long hair be the star of the show, but the braid adds depth to an otherwise simple look.

Twisted Braids. If you are a ‘Game of Thrones’ fan you will recognize this look! What a fun way to get hair off your face, but maintaining the long-hair look highlighted with soft waves.

Side Classic Braid. This is a great way to keep your bangs out of your face but don’t want to pull all of your hair up. A simple, classic braid is the perfect solution to the awkward stage of growing those bangs out too!

Fishtail Braid. If you are like my girls, you braid your hair often and love the option of the fishtail braid. Perfect for longer hair, this stylish braid will keep you cool all summer long.

Short-hair braid. Who says you have to have long hair to wear a braid? Not this girl! I love her short waves and the way the braid add another dimension to already super cute style.

Side Braid. Does this girl have the most gorgeous hair you’ve ever seen! This braid makes me swoon and envy her hair! I also love how she made this look have a boho feel with the addition of a thin headband.

Tiny Braids. Southern girls love their sock buns and what better way to add interest to an otherwise boring bun than with tiny braids woven through it? Exactly. A simple little add-in that adds a lot of interest.
