It’s not every day you see a real life cowboy. And it’s certainly not every day you see one with his horse parked outside a local liquor store. But that’s exactly what happened to Country Outfitter photographer, Jeremy Scott. He snapped a photo of the man and his horse and through a series of circumstances via social media, he was able to meet the mystery rider.
Of course, Jeremy did what any self-respecting photographer would do. He got the story.
The story of the young cowboy starts off pretty typical Americana. His name is Jack Combs and he is from Arkansas. But that’s where typical stops. Jack goes on to tell Jeremy he has traveled the world working on various ranches. He started this adventurous life by saving enough money to buy a one-way ticket to Australia. Young and naive, he landed in the Land Down Under with just $60 American dollars in his pocket and no work visa. Luckily, he knocked on the right door of the right farmer and he was able to prove his worth. He got a work visa and worked on the ranch for several weeks. Once he saved enough money to get back to the states, he started the process all over again.
He’s worked in several countries around the globe, but Spain has been his favorite. What’s next for Jack? Argentina. We can’t wait to hear the stories he will have when he gets back.
What does a day in the life of a real cowboy look like?
As the fashion editor for Country Outfitter Life, I felt I had to ask what his favorite pair of jeans is. His answer? Wrangler. He said he never has to think about the fit and they last forever.
