How To Carve a Turkey and Impress All of Your Thanksgiving Guests

-

Turkey is basically the life blood of Thanksgiving. Cook it wrong and you’ve kind of ruined the entire holiday. Same goes for carving– doing it too soon after it comes out of the oven or not cutting in the right directions will lead to a lack-luster turkey dinner, and that’s not what anyone wants.

If you’re hosting Thanksgiving this year– or you’re attending Thanksgiving somewhere and you want to be the hero– don’t be afraid to take a stab (lol) at carving the turkey yourself! Just remember these easy turkey tips, and don’t get too freaked out by the number of joints you have to cut through.

How To Carve a Turkey:

Turkey Tips:

  • Let the turkey rest for at least 15 minutes before carving.
  • Start with a sharp knife, cutting through the skin on the leg, and cut through the joint of the leg.
  • Angle the knife toward the bone.
  • Cut off the wings second, cutting through the joint again.
  • For the breast, peel away the excess skin along the wishbone, then wiggle the knife at the base of the wishbone to pull it out.
  • Cut along the breast bone and peel away the meat. Repeat on both sides.
