We turned to the pros when we wanted to know the best way to make this delicious and versatile sauce. And Southern Living had just what we were looking for. Of course, if you are like us, you can always eat it by the spoonfuls too.

Homemade Caramel Sauce

Ingredients: 

1 cup granulated sugar

1/4 cup water

1 tsp. lemon juice

1/2 cup heavy cream

2 Tbls. butter

Directions: 

Pour sugar into a clean pan. Add water, swirl around to even distribute the sugar. Add lemon juice to prevent crystallization. Turn heat to high and don’t touch it until the edges turn brown. Begin swirling the mixture until it is fully brown. Stir in cream and butter.
