Labor Day is upon us, and that means no more swimming pool, fewer barbecues, and more school for the kids. Fortunately, it also means tailgating, football, piles of leaves, and pumpkin patches. Regardless of how you’re bidding the summer goodbye, everyone needs a good burger to seal the deal.
This incredible burger takes its flavor from bacon drippings, avocado, red pepper flakes, and more. It’s loaded with flavor, and the extra grease means it’s a treat the entire family will love. You weren’t watching your waistline on Labor Day weekend, were you? Yeah, we didn’t think so.
- 6 slices bacon
- 1 tablespoon bacon drippings
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 cup dry bread crumbs
- 1 tablespoon red pepper flakes
- 1 pinch freshly ground black pepper
- 1/2 cup shredded Colby-Jack cheese, or more to taste
- cooking spray
- 2 slices Colby-Jack cheese
- 2 thin tomato slices
- 2 slices avocado
- 2 hamburger buns, split
Cook bacon and retain drippings. Mix ground beef, bread crumbs, red pepper flakes, black pepper, and bacon drippings in a bowl until combined. Divide meat mixture into 4 portions, making 4 patties. Sprinkle colby jack cheese onto 2 patties. Place patty onto cheese covered one to make a cheese stuffed burger. Chill for about 10 minutes.
Preheat grill to high heat. Spray with cooking spray, and cook burgers normally. Top with fixings, serve, and enjoy!
