Lay’s Revealed Its Newest Potato Chip Flavor And It’ll Go Really Well With A Margarita (Or Two)

Heard of Lay’s “Do Us A Flavor” competition? The company asks for people to submit their best idea for a new potato chip flavor, then people get to vote on which one they want to see come to life. The winner gets to go home with the pride of knowing they invented the next big thing in the world of potato chips, plus $1 million.

This year, the winner comes out of San Antonio, Texas.


The new flavor? Crispy Taco.

Ellen Sarem, the genius behind the new flavor, said she came up with the idea because tacos were the very first thing she tried to cook for her now-fiancé– she says “tried” because she apparently left out the cheese and salsa, which is a big taco no-no.

She says she’s happy with how the chips turned out, saying Lay’s did an amazing job bringing her creation to life. “You can taste the crunch of the taco shell, the spiciness of the beef, the sharpness of the cheddar, even the freshness of the lettuce, it’s amazing,” she said.

The other finalists in the “Do Us A Flavor” competition were Everything Bagel with Cream Cheese, and Fried Green Tomato. Let’s just say, I’m glad Crispy Taco took home the win.
