I’m going to be really honest with you here– we’ve hit that point in our relationship, right?

I think “diet” versions of things are a joke. 9 times out of 10, if I’m presented with a low-fat option for something, I’m still going to choose the full-fat version. Don’t get me wrong, I take care of myself, and I occasionally eat vegetables. But life is too short, ya know?

That’s why this news makes my eyes roll to the point where they’re basically stuck in the back of my head: Low-Fat Avocados.

I’ll give you a minute.


According to Fruitnet, the Spanish Health Foundation’s Food Health Program approved the new avocados earlier this year.

“Its arrival in Spain could mark the second big jump in the development of the avocado [in] the market. Consumption is growing constantly, as are consumer concerns about getting a balanced diet. Now thanks to the Avocado Light, you can enjoy this fruit at all times in a much lighter way,” said Eurobanan’s import and marketing director Ramón Rey.

Avocados have risen in popularity over the last few years, becoming a food staple for any good, rule-following Millennial. I personally only truly enjoy avocados in one form, and that’s called guacamole. Apparently though, half of a regular avocado is about the max of “monounsaturated fat” we should be having each day, which is definitely not enough to make a solid bowl of guacamole.
