Typically, I don’t spend a ton of time watching the NFL Playoffs if the Dallas Cowboys aren’t playing, which means, I don’t spend a lot of time watching the NFL Playoffs (I beat you to the joke). But, this year is a little different, as the remaining four teams, minus the New England Patriots, are all a bit of an underdog in their own way.
So, when the Minnesota Vikings beat the New Orleans Saints on Sunday, I was paying attention. The Vikings had been up early and for most of the game. At one point, it was 17-0 in the third quarter. Even after battling back and kicking a franchise-record 53-yard field goal in the fourth quarter, New Orleans battled back and scored again. The Vikings had the ball on their own 39-yard line with 10 seconds left when Kase Keenum connected with Stefon Diggs for a historic touchdown, sending the Vikings to the NFC Championship against the Philadelphia Eagles.
And people in Minnesota weren’t just happy about the miraculous play, they were over the moon ecstatic like nothing Minnesotans have seen before.
