The Pittsburgh Penguins won their second consecutive Stanley Cup after taking down the Nashville Predators 2-0 in the sixth game of the series. It was a decisive win in what was aggressive back-and-forth series. Those who followed the series know that Nashville fans have adopted a strange tradition of smuggling raw catfish into playoff games to throw onto the ice. It’s a rally cry, of sorts. So, to ostensibly celebrate their win, Pens fans ate raw catfish. Yeah, that’ll show ’em.

Nothing proves your athletic dominance like contracting salmonella and a debilitating case of food poisoning after eating a raw bottom-feeder. I suppose this was Pittsburgh’s attempt to troll Nashville, but I can’t imagine anyone in Nashville feeling wronged. In fact, I would wager that most Predators fans are laughing at Pittsburgh right now. If winning the Stanley Cup means eating a raw catfish, by all means, you can have the Cup.

Sports-based ecstasy mixed with mob mentality makes fools of everyone. Regrets were plentiful, flocking like the catfish of Capistrano in the streets of Pittsburgh. Sad.
