With all of the TV show reboots and revivals lately, it’s hard to know which are worth watching and which are worth missing— but this 2000s reboot of TLC’s home makeover favorite, “While You Were Out,” is a guaranteed must-see.
If you don’t remember, “WYWO” would bring in home makeover experts to do surprise roon makeovers for people nominated by a good friend or family member. They’d find a way to get the unsuspecting person out of their house for a couple of days in order to do a complete makeover of one room in the house.
Now, the TLC hit show is coming back to TV screens— and it’s bringing a ton of our favorite designers along with it: “Trading Spaces'” Carter Oosterhouse, Doug Wilson, Frank Bielec, Hildi Santo Tomas, Ty Pennington and Vern Yip, along with “Flip or Flop Las Vegas'” Bristol and Aubrey Marunde, “Love It or List It’s” Hilary Farr and David Visentin, “Good Bones'” Karen El. Laine and Mina Starsiak, “Rehab Addict’s” Nicole Curtis and Vanilla Ice, star of DIY Network’s “Vanilla Ice Project.”
The budget for each makeover will reportedly be $10,000, which is a major shift compared to the original $1,000 budget, which later rose to $2,000.
“While You Were Out” will air on HGTV and TLC in 2019, official date TBD.
