The life of Little Jimmy Dickens was celebrated at his second home, the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville. Artists like Brad Paisley and Old Crow Medicine Show sang in his honor, but the most emotional was likely delivered by Vince Gill and Carrie Underwood, with Gill’s “Go Rest High on That Mountain.”
Gill’s song has become one of the most used funeral songs in the country and he performed it at the funeral of George Jones in 2013.
Both artists spoke about their friendship with Dickens before the performance. At the time of his death, Dickens, 94, was the longest-performing member of the Grand Ole Opry.
