You don’t even have to get through the entirety of Dierks Bentley’s “Riser” to know it’s an emotional, painful, hopeful and relatable song. Every person who has ever listened to the song has felt like they’ve been pushed down, worked hard and prayed because it’s the only thing they could do.

Bentley‘s new video for the song follows a young mother and her children making their way out of a bad situation into an even more difficult, trying one only to be a Riser.

Bentley was inspired by a segment on “60 Minutes” about families living out of their cars to get by and chose to tell the story of one individual, Amy, who the video’s director met through Safe Haven, a Nashville program working to provide housing for families in need. At the end of the video, the real Amy is on screen with Bentley.
