In 1972, President Richard Nixon, wrote up a proclamation naming the month of October ‘Country Music Month.’ Now, say what you will about Richard Nixon, but at least he made one good decision during his time as president.

“Now, therefore, I, Richard Nixon, President of the United States of American, ask the people of this Nation to mark the month of October, 1972, with suitable observances as Country Music Month.”

So, the next step is to make this an annual thing.
