After accepting Innovator awards at the 2019 iHeartRadio Music Awards Thursday night (March 14), Alicia Keys brought out a special guest to help her perform her current single “Raise a Man.”
That special guest was her 8-year-old song, Egypt. Mid-way through the song, Alicia announced, “Ladies and gentlemen, I want to bring my son, Egypt, out here. The man that I get to raise. Will you play for me Egypt?”
Egypt took the stage decked out a white sequined jacket, with white jeans and black and white bandana tied around his head. He headed straight for the piano, sat down next to his mom and took over the keys. Alicia then got up and moved to another piano, sitting back to back with her son as they played.
“You know what, this is such a special night for us tonight. And we so blessed we get to share it with you. So we want to sing one of our other favorite songs. It goes…” she said before breaking into her 2003 hit “You Don’t Know My Name.”
But it was when Egypt got up from the piano, stood next to his mom and began to floss, that the crowd went crazy. In the moment, Alicia praised her son and shared her love.

“As we lift each other up, we also got to remember to love each other and love ourselves,” Alicia said. “And I’m so blessed tonight to raise a man like you, Egypt. I love you.”
