Ariana Grande Shares Heartfelt Message Following Mac Miller’s Death: “I’m So Sorry I Couldn’t Fix or Take Your Pain Away”

On Friday, September 7, rapper and recording artist Mac Miller was found dead from an apparent overdose at the age of 26.

Since then, his friends, family and loved ones have shared countless messages of love for the late rapper— and now, his ex-girlfriend Ariana Grande is speaking out. Ariana and Mac Miller were together for two years but split in May as Mac continued to struggle with addiction. Now, a week after his passing, Ariana is speaking up and sharing her heartbreak.

i adored you from the day i met you when i was nineteen and i always will,” Ariana said in an Instagram post sharing a video of Mac. “i can’t believe you aren’t here anymore. i really can’t wrap my head around it. we talked about this. so many times. i’m so mad, i’m so sad i don’t know what to do. you were my dearest friend. for so long. above anything else. i’m so sorry i couldn’t fix or take your pain away. i really wanted to. the kindest, sweetest soul with demons he never deserved. i hope you’re okay now. rest.”

Ariana is now engaged to “Saturday Night Live” star Pete Davidson.
