Ariana Grande was noticeably absent from the 61st Annual Grammy Awards ceremony Sunday night (Feb. 10), when it was announced that she won the award for Best Pop Vocal Album (Sweetener). But that didn’t stop the pop star from thanking those involved in the record and explaining her absence.

“i know i’m not there tonight (trust, i tried and still truly wished it had worked out tbh) and i know i said i try not to put too much weight into these things …. but fuck ……. 🥺 this is wild and beautiful. thank you so much. i love u @pharrell@scooterbraun @allisonjamiekaye every human being at @republicrecords @awsuki@ilya_music Max Martin @tbhits@victoriamonet @socialhouse@recordingacademy & the voters 🖤,” she wrote. “but mostly thank y’all for being my main source of joy and inspiration always.”

It was widely reported that Ariana would not be attending the Grammy Awards due to a disagreement with producers over her performance on the show. The singer wanted to perform her current song “Seven Rings”, but the producers didn’t want her to. They eventually came to an agreement where Ariana would perform a medley of “Seven Rings” and another song. The agreement fell apart when the producers insisted on picking Ariana’s second song. The 25-year-old singer decided to skip the show this year.

But that didn’t stop the Ariana from enjoying the night. She couldn’t let her Zac Posen dress go to waste, so the Florida native wore the dress in honor of the Grammy Awards and her first win.

“When @zacposen makes u a custom gown it doesn’t matter if you’re singing or not 🌫 …. thank u 🖤,” she wrote in a post. Looks like Ariana came out on top on this one.

Thank you, Next.
