While the world continues to mourn the loss of former first lady Barbara Bush, the much-loved family has had to move on with their life. And on Oct. 7, they did just that at the much-anticipated wedding of the daughter of former President George W. Bush to screenwriter Craig Coyne.

In a new interview with the Today show, the still blushing bride opened up about the wedding, and the gift she believed the whole family received shortly after the ceremony was complete.

“The second that it was announced that we were husband and wife, it started to rain,” she recalls of the wedding which took place at the Bush family home in Kennebunkport, Maine. “I thought, that’s my grandmother. She’s with us, too.”

Her grandfather, former President George H. W. Bush was also in attendance, sitting proudly in the first row to witness the happy moment.

“It was wonderful,” said Barbara, who appeared on Today with sister Jenna Bush Hager to promote the paperback version of their memoir “Sisters First.” It was everything we wanted. It was small and in a place that we have grown up and have so many incredible memories, in Maine. We just wanted to make sure we could do it while my grandfather was still healthy.”
