Bode Miller’s Wife Shares Heartbreaking Photo of Daughter’s Final Moments: “I Wish I Could Have One More Day”

-

In June of 2018, Team USA’s Bode Miller and his wife, Morgan, lost their 19-month-old daughter, Emeline, after she drowned in a neighbor’s pool. Since then, Bode and Morgan have both spoken out briefly about the incident on social media and on “Today” in hopes of helping raise awareness on child drownings.

Now, Morgan is sharing a heartbreaking yet beautiful photograph of Emeline in the hospital as she said goodbye to her.

“I wish I could have one more day to hold you, but until that day comes, continue to work through me and give me the strength to bring awareness, my love,” Morgan posted on Instagram. “I told you as I held you in this moment that you could still change the world, you could still move mountains. Every step we take forward is because of you and Levi. Your footprint will forever be left on this world. I love you, My baby girl.”
Morgan shared the details about what happened on the day Emeline drowned, saying, “We were mid-conversation, and I just stood up, and I turned, and I walked right to where the boys were, and I said, ‘Where’s Emmy?’ And before Nate could respond, I turned around the door that leads to the backyard — that was closed — had this tiny sliver of light coming through the side,” she told Savannah Guthrie.
“My heart sank, and I opened the door, and she was floating in the pool. And I ran, and I jumped in.”
