“Cake Boss’” Buddy Valastro Reveals He’s Lost 35 Pounds: “I’m Doing It To Feel Better”

-

“Cake Boss” Star Buddy Valastro has long lived a life working in a bakery surrounded by a world of luscious cakes and sweet frostings. But this past April, Valastro said he began to notice the weight gain that a little taste here and there was causing, and he decided to do something about it.

“I just woke up one morning and looked at myself and was like, ‘Come on, you’ve gotta stop eating,’” Valastro said in a new interview with People Magazine, revealing that he has lost 35 pounds in the last few months. “It wasn’t like a health scare or anything like that it really was really just, I wasn’t moving the same and was feeling kind of sluggish.”

According to the article, Valastro began following a program called Optavia, which calls for six small meals throughout the day. And while the weigh loss is noticeable, he said that he still would like to lose 15 more pounds to reach his goal weight.

“I’m not doing it because I’m trying to look good, I’m doing it to feel better,” said Valastro, whose dynasty has grown to not only include bakeries, but also restaurants, bakeware and a line of ready-to-eat foods. “I feel so much better now. But when you do lose weight, you feel good, you do look better, and you know, your clothes fit.”
