Carey Hart and his rockstar wife, Pink, are known for stirring up controversy on social media. So Carey thought he was overdue in that area when he decided to poke the “parent police bear.”

In a recent post on Instagram, Carey posted a video of his 7-year-old daughter, Willow, shooting a.22-caliber rifle.

“Haven’t poked the parent police bear in a few days,” he wrote. “Willz and I shooting the 22 rifle. She is getting pretty good. Can hit a 12 inch pie plate from 30 yards.”

He went on to explain that Willow has been shooting a gun since the age of 3.

“Started her shooting at 3yrs old. For the record non of us hunt, just enjoy shooting for sport. I’m raising the kids with knowledge of fire arms, how to handle them, shoot them, store them, and avoid them in uneducated hands. #knowledgeispower.

You would think that would be the end of it, right? Wrong. While many of Carey’s fans were fine with the Harts practicing gun safety and starting kids early. A few folks spoke out about giving a gun to a young child.

“You are fallowed by millions of persons , that are not has smart or has educated … just making an ad for guns . Those same guns that kills our child and loved ones,” sbibap wrote.

The USA has a gun problem, not sure what message you’re trying to send here,” Mrs. brink wrote.

But it was one negative post that elicited a response from Carey.

“There is absolutely no reason why a 3-year-old needs to be shooting a gun,” ashleighbiasi wrote. “It is just indoctrinating the toxic American culture that guns are somehow ‘cool’and a ‘hobby’… Maybe actually try to listen to all the people flooding your comment with an open mind instead of telling them to unfollow or block them. That in itself is so f*%^ing childish and change will never happen that way”

To which Carey responded, “That is your opinion. I never slam people for speaking their opinion. I enjoy debate and shedding light on subjects that are sensitive like this. Now when you disrespect my country or “culture” I fell I have every right to get nasty. Now I understand that you don’t “give a f*** it’s my 2nd amendment right” but I sure as hell do. For one I NEVER block anyone, but you are free to unfollow me since my American ways so deeply bother you. Goodbye. ”
