Brian Turk, the star of HBO series Carnivàle, has passed away due to cancer. According to TMZ, the actor was diagnosed with brain cancer last year and died on Friday (Sept. 13). He was 49.

Brian is best known for his role as Gabriel in Carnivále and appearing in many TV shows including Two and a Half Men, Criminal Minds, Wings and Beverly Hills 90210. He also appeared in films such as The Lost World Jurassic Park, American Pie 2 and Crocodile Dundee in Los Angels.

The actor’s rep told TMZ that the cancer had recently become terminal this year.

A GoFundMe page was set up in honor of Brian and the page shares a piece of his story.

“Just over a year ago our dear friend, Brian Turk, was diagnosed with cancer. Being the selfless and private person that he is, Brian kept this quiet so as not to concern his family and friends. Unfortunately, the cancer has now become terminal,” the page reads.

“Brian wants to fight this battle as he has a wife & an 8 year old son, who calls him his best friend. His will to live is strong but this is expensive. Brian has been the breadwinner supporting his family as his wife has been physically unable to work full time.”

“As a community we need to keep Brian & his family in our prayers during this time. We need to consider him & his family long term. They need our support for his son’s future. If you have the ability to donate any assistance will be greatly appreciated.”

The organize of the page, Carlos Marlene Montiel, sent out the message of Brian’s death.

“Unfortunately Brian passed away Friday morning, 9/13 from complications of his cancer,” he wrote.  “Please continue to share this Go Fund Me and I will send out funeral arrangements once they are finalized. Thank you for the continued support for the Turk family.”

R.I.P. Brian.
