Throughout the years, comedians Carol Burnett and Tim Conway joined forces in making the whole world laugh via their antics on The Carol Burnett Show. But on Tuesday (May 14,) the whole world found themselves shedding only tears, including Burnett herself, when they heard the news of the funny man’s passing.

“I’m heartbroken,” Burnett said in a statement reported in The Hollywood Reporter about the death of Conway, who died at the age of 85. “He was one in a million, not only as a brilliant comedian but as a loving human being. I cherish the times we had together both on the screen and off. He’ll be in my heart forever.”

According to People magazine, Conway was suffering from Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus (NPH) at the time of his death.

While Conway was best known for playing characters such as the Oldest Man and Mr. Tudball on The Carol Burnett Show, he also made quite a name for himself as a star in the show McHale’s Navy, which ran from 1962 to 1966.  Through the years, Conway also voiced the character of Barnacle Boy on Spongebob Squarepants and making an Emmy-winning guest appearance on the show 30 Rock back in 2008.

Conway is survived by his wife of 35 years, his stepdaughter, his six children and two granddaughters. We send our condolences to all those who mourn his death.
