Chrissy Metz Shuts Down Rumor About Golden Globes Red Carpet Drama

-

Despite the pesky rumors flying around, “This Is Us” star Chrissy Metz has nothing but love for fellow actress Alison Brie.

In case you missed it, the 2019 Golden Globes took place on Sunday, January 6 and, during the red carpet events, there was a slight misinterpretation about something Chrissy said during a Facebook Live pre-show.

Chrissy was participating in the Facebook Live when she was asked if she knows “GLOW” star Alison Brie. As the camera moved away from Chrissy, some fans believed they heard Chrissy call Alison Brie a “b****” via a hot mic.

Naturally, the moment spread across social media— but Chrissy was quick to clear the air.

“It’s terribly unfortunate anyone would think much less run a story that was completely fabricated!” she said linking out to a story about the incident on Us Weekly, which has since been deleted. “I adore Alison and would never say a bad word about her, or anyone! I sure hope she knows my heart.”

Later, Chrissy’s Facebook Live co-host, AJ Gibson, also backed Chrissy up, saying she’d actually called Alison Brie “babe.”

“While interviewing Chrissy during the HFPA Presents: Globes Red Carpet LIVE pre-show and as our conversation came to its natural conclusion, we were told to wrap and toss over to our co-hosts on another portion of the carpet, who were on standby with Alison Brie. I jokingly asked Chrissy if she knew who Alison was, as a way to transition into the ‘toss’ and she played along. She then referred to Alison as a ‘babe’ and the fun exchange ended,” he said in a statement.

He went on to say that Chrissy is as nice as they come.

“Chrissy is an absolute sweetheart and an immensely talented and kindhearted woman. On the heels of the powerful show of solidarity via the Time’s Up movement amongst women and allies in the industry on the same Golden Globes Red Carpet just one year ago, I can’t imagine a scenario where Chrissy would want anything more than to support her female counterparts.”
