Jason Momoa is taking it all off. Not in that way. The Aquaman actor is getting rid of his facial hair and it’s all for a good cause.

In a video he posted to Youtube, Jason takes us through the shave process and says goodbye to the characters that were created with the help of his beard. .

“I think 2012 is the last time I shaved. Goodbye Drogo. Goodbye Arthur Curry, Goodbye Declan,” he said in the video with each cut.

However, Jason wasn’t just shaving for the fun of it. The actor revealed that he was doing it for a reason. That reason was to bring awareness to environment issues.

“Most importantly, I just want to do this to bring awareness that the plastics are killing our planet,” he said. “And I think I have a solution, I don’t want to bitch about it. There’s only one thing that can really help our planet and save our planet as long as we recycle—and that’s aluminum.”

He continued, “About seventy five percent of all aluminum that’s ever been used is still in circulation today and it’s one hundred percent recyclable so you drink the can and in about sixty days it will be back. One hundred percent infinitely recyclable.”

In addition to bringing awareness, Jason went one step further by making his own water in aluminum cans to set an example.

“I’m on a quest, my journey. I got something new and I want to show you, he said while presenting his water in aluminum cans. “Please, Please, there’s a change coming and it’s aluminum. We gotta get rid of these plastic water bottles. Aquaman is trying to do the best he can—for my kids, for your kids, for the world,” he said. “Clean up the oceans, clean up the land. Love you guys.”

And just like that, the beard is gone.
