Legendary singer Neil Diamond headed to his socials on Thursday (Feb. 14) not to share a light Valentine’s Day greeting, but to rather share that he had lost his dear mother Rose.
“I wept when it was all done/ For being done too soon,” Diamond wrote alongside a picture of his late mother. “I miss you already, Mom. Rose Diamond 1918 – 2019”

The tweet quoted from the lyrics from Diamond’s 1970 song “Done Too Soon,” off his record Tap Root Manuscript.
The devastating news of his mother’s death comes just over a year since Diamond shared with his fans that he was going to be retiring from the road due to a battle with Parkinson’s disease.
In a recent interview, the 78-year-old that reached superstar status with songs such as “Sweet Caroline,” “Play Me” and “Song Sung Blue” updated fans on how he has been feeling health wise as of late.
“Well, I’m doing pretty well,” he said in an interview.
“I’m active. I take my meds. I do my workouts. I’m in pretty good shape. I’m feeling good. I want to stay productive. I still have my boys. I just can’t do the traveling that I once did, but I have my wife there supporting me (and) friends. It does have its challenges, but I’m feeling good and I feel very positive about. I’m feeling better every day.”
We send our heartfelt condolences to Neil and all who mourn the passing of Rose.
