“The Cosby Show” Star Phylicia Rashad is Joining “This Is Us”

Though she’s best known for her role as Clair Huxtable on “The Cosby Show,” Phylicia Rashad is now joining the cast of “This Is Us,” and she’s taking on the position of another important TV mom.

According to Today, Phylicia Rashad will be joining the “This Is Us” cast to play the role of Carol, the mother of Susan Kelechi Watson’s character Beth. She’ll reportedly appear in the 13th episode this season as we get a deeper look into Beth’s backstory, her childhood, and upbringing.

Fans who are caught up on the show will recall that when we last saw Beth and Randall, their marriage was beginning to be tested after Randall said he didn’t want to drop out of the city council race despite Beth’s pleas.

With that in mind, we can’t wait to see what the “This Is Us” writers and producers worked up to give viewers a true look into what makes Beth BethThis Is Us returns Tuesday, Jan 15 on NBC.
