Throughout the years, Portia de Rossi and Ellen DeGeneres have given each other their share of lavish birthday gifts. Yet, this year for DeGeneres’ 61st birthday, the gift was a bit more bland.
The talk show host got gardening tools. “But she likes to garden!” de Rossi said, quickly to the audience on the set of The Ellen DeGeneres Show on Wednesday, February 20.
“I do,” Ellen admitted. “I do.”
Fans will recall that last year, de Rossi gave DeGeneres the gift of The Ellen DeGeneres Wildlife Fund. And recently, de Rossi traveled to Rwanda to attend the groundbreaking for The Ellen DeGeneres Campus of the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund.
“It was an incredible experience,” de Rossi said during the show. “I mean, I just couldn’t believe the feeling of gratitude, which was really overwhelming for me. Not just from people that are gonna directly benefit, but just the entire area. There are 1,500 jobs that will be created, millions of dollars will go into the economy because of your campus. It was a really special, pretty overwhelming moment.”
“I was very jealous because, obviously, I’m working and I couldn’t go,” says DeGeneres, who added that she got to go to Jennifer Aniston’s 50th birthday party while his wife was out of town. “So I had to send you and I appreciate it very much.”
