Zac Efron is taking on the role of notorious serial killer Ted Bundy and we’re getting a first look as his performance in the newly released trailer.
Titled, Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile, the movie is told from the perspective of Ted’s longtime girlfriend Elizabeth Kloepfer—played by Lily Collins—as he perpetrates his killings.
In the trailer, we see the film will take us through their relationships along with the killings and the trial as Elizabeth went through their relationship questioning her boyfriend’s innocence.
The movie will star Efron, along with Lily Collins, John Malkovich, Jim Parson, Kaya Scodelario, Haley Joel Osment, and Metallica’s James Hetfield. The director behind the film, Joe Berlinger, is also behind the recently released Netflix documentary Conversations with a Killer: The Ted Bundy Tapes .
Ted Bundy was a law student and notorious criminal in the ’70s who, after a decade of pleading not guilty, confessed to 30 homicides in seven states, though many believe that number is much higher. Bundy was executed in Florida in 1989.
Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile will make it’s premiere at the Sundance Film Festival on Jan. 26. No word on when the movie will be coming to a theater near you.
