In an effort to revitalize the long running show Dancing with the Stars, ABC executives say there will be some changes a-coming.
“The producers were just in last week talking about the casting and the creative evolution,” ABC Entertainment President Karey Burke told Deadline in a recent interview. “It’s all very exciting. It won’t be major format changes, just tweaking and tinkering… the show’s been on so long and it’s been so successful elsewhere, I think they’ve done quite an impressive job of looking at what works.”
From the sounds of it, many of the show’s stars such as hosts Erin Andrews and Tom Bergeron and judges Len Goodman, Bruno Tonioli and Carrie Ann Inaba will be staying right where they are for the upcoming 28th season of the show.
However, the dancing contestants themselves might be more high profile than ever. Granted, in year’s past, the star power has been quite impressive, including last year’s standouts such as Bobby Bones and actor Milo Manheim.
“I’m quite excited about the casting they’ve put together,” Burke said. “It’s not done, but the names that I have heard [are impressive]. I think it’s going to be a big season.”
The much-loved show is set to return in September.
