It’s a sad day for America, indeed.

Charlotte Rae, known for her roles on “Diff’rent Strokes” and “The Facts of Life,” passed away on Sunday, August 5. She was 92 years old.

According to CNN, she passed away at her home in Los Angeles, surrounded by her family— though an exact cause of death has not been released.

Charlotte Rae was nominated for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series in 1982 for her role as Edna Garrett on “The Facts of Life.” She was also nominated in 1975 for her role as a supporting actress in “Queen of the Stardust Ballroom.”
