While he was out enjoying a night at the Espy Awards on Wednesday night (July 10), former Bachelor star Colton Underwood had a few things to say about Hannah Brown’s season of The Bachelorette and her suitor Jed Wyatt.

Entertainment Tonight caught up with Colton on the red carpet and had to get his take on the latest season of the reality series. After all, he was just in her shoes a year ago. When asked his reaction about Jed’s hometown visit with his family, Colton had this to say.

“I think if there was any doubt about the whole conspiracy theory and the drama going on with Jed, it was put to rest and sort of confirmed just with that hometown,” Colton said. “Because you could see something wasn’t really right or they were sort of biting their lips for some things. It was a little fishy, it was a little off, a little awkward.”

The backstory that Colton is talking about is that while Jed has been wooing Hannah Brown to get down on one knee and propose on the series, his alleged girlfriend, Hayley Stevens, came out to the public to reveal that the two had been dating as Jed left for the show.

“We spent the night together the night before he headed to L.A.,” said Stevens. “He called me when he landed. He said, ‘I love you, and I’ll call you when I get back.'”

While it’s Haley’s word over Jed’s, who did admit to Hannah that he originally went on the show to promote his music but found his feelings had changed, the hometown visit to Jed’s family confirmed that Jed had something to hide. In Monday night’s episode, Jed’s family was portrayed as not being enthusiastic about meeting Hannah and told Hannah they didn’t think Jed was ready to marry her. Uh Oh!

So when Colton was asked if Jed could come back from this scandal that has taken over Bachelor Nation, he replied “he shouldn’t come back from this thing, he should just go away.”

He went on to say, “Being in the position Hannah’s been before you sort of have these blinders on. You’re sort of dialed in and focused on the relationship. You don’t take in the cues that sometimes you should in regular relationships or the red flags.”

Well then, that might explain why Luke P. is still  hanging on.
