Since becoming a daddy to the adorable Isla Rose earlier this year, NASCAR legend Dale Earnhardt Jr. has seemed to have a smile on his face…and for good reason. And in a new video shared by his wife Amy, it looks like that smile won’t be leaving his face anytime soon.
“Caught these two playing,” Amy wrote on her Instagram page on Thursday (Sept. 20) alongside a precious black and white video of father and daughter cuddling under a decorative tee pee.
The adorable moment came just a day before Dale makes his triumphant return to racing Friday night (Sept. 21.) Even though the NASCAR analyst retired from full time racing at the end of the 2017 season, he will in fact compete in the NASCAR Xfinity series race in Richmond, Va., for his team JR Motorsports in order to fulfill sponsorship contracts. Those contracts required that he compete in one event this year.
“I don’t know if that will be my last time [racing NASCAR],” Earnhardt says in a recent interview. “I’m not dying to win. If I go dying to win and I don’t win, man, you can’t do that. You have to go in there and have fun.”
But Dale must admit – he misses it.
“I miss driving,” Earnhardt says. “I didn’t miss driving at the start of the year. Going to the races and watching and broadcasting, you see moments where you’re like, ‘Those guys are having fun and I’d love to get a little taste of that.’
