Last week, recording artist Demi Lovato was rushed to the hospital after an apparent drug overdose.

Shortly after, her family released a statement about her condition, saying, “Demi is awake and with her family who want to express thanks to everyone for the love, prayers and support. Some of the information being reported is incorrect and [Lovato’s family members] respectfully ask for privacy and not speculation as her health and recovery is the most important thing right now.”

According to reports from CNN, Demi remains in the hospital, suffering common “complications” that would be expected following an overdose. Other reports have stated that her ex-boyfriend, “That ’70s Show” star Wilmer Valderrama, has been by her side since the incident.

The website Recovery.org states that a few of the complications following an overdose can include liver failure, bacterial infections, tuberculosis, respiratory issues, and more— though it’s not clear what complications Demi is currently suffering from.
